DCM DK Shivakumar said that 10 TMC of Cauvery water will be released from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that 10 TMC Cauvery water will be released from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu.
A day after Tamil Nadu moved the Supreme Court seeking a direction to Karnataka to release Cauvery water, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has reacted to the same. DK Sivakumar said that there was no need for Tamil Nadu to go to the Supreme Court and 10 TMC water will be released to the neighboring state.
Shivakumar, who is also the Minister of Water Resources, said that the government will consider the drinking water of the people and farmers before releasing water to Tamil Nadu.
Former CM Basavaraja Bommai wrote a letter to CM Siddaramaiah on Monday asking him to take a tough stand on the matter of releasing water to Tamil Nadu. Bommai mentioned in the letter that the current water capacity of the four dams in Cauvery basin is not enough to supply drinking water to Bangalore.
